There's a strange little pause after Act Three, the kind where you've just killed Doryani and you're not fully sure what the game wants from you next. That's normal. Path of Exile 2 doesn't treat him like a throwaway boss. Once the fight is over, he becomes part of your endgame routine, sitting right at the point where maps, build changes, and POE 2 Currency farming start to matter a lot more. You don't need to hunt through some hidden zone or repeat the boss fight. Finish Act Three, follow the next main steps, and Doryani will show up where the endgame systems begin.
Where Doryani Shows Up
After you beat him, Doryani moves from enemy to guide. It's a neat shift, and honestly, it fits the game pretty well. He's tied to the post-campaign setup and the Cataclysm storyline, so if you're just playing through the quests in order, you'll run into him naturally. Players sometimes overthink this part and start checking old areas, but there's no secret trigger. The real requirement is simple: clear Act Three and keep following the campaign handoff into endgame content. From there, he becomes one of the NPCs you'll visit again and again.
Why Players Keep Coming Back to Him
Doryani is useful because he handles a bunch of things you don't want to waste time on. He can identify items, and the quick Ctrl-click option is the sort of small feature you start to love once your stash is filling up. He also lets you refund passive skill points with gold. That matters more than new players expect. Maybe your damage feels flat, or your defenses aren't holding up in maps. Instead of rerolling, you can adjust the tree, test something, and keep moving. It makes experimenting feel less punishing.
Atlas Changes and Waystones
His Atlas services are just as important. The Atlas tree shapes how your endgame plays out, whether you're chasing bosses, stacking map rewards, farming packs, or trying to make your runs more profitable. Doryani lets you refund Atlas passive points, so you're not locked into a bad plan forever. He also sells Waystones, which are needed to open maps. Drops can be uneven, especially early on, and running out feels awful. Having an NPC source means you can keep pushing tiers instead of sitting around hoping the next map drops what you need.
Cataclysm's Wake and Corruption
Doryani also connects you to Cataclysm's Wake, the questline that pushes you through endgame mapping. As you complete maps at the required tiers, he rewards you with Books of Knowledge. These books give Atlas passive points, and those points are a big deal. More rewards, better targeting, smoother farming routes - it all starts there. He can also cleanse Corruption, which you shouldn't ignore. If your character gets hit by it, deal with it quickly. Letting it sit can make already rough encounters feel much worse than they need to.
Final Thoughts
Doryani ends up being less of a one-time boss and more of a regular stop between serious runs. Use him to clean up your inventory, fix build mistakes, reshape your Atlas, buy Waystones, and stay clear of Corruption problems. The players who get the most from endgame usually don't just blast maps blindly; they adjust, test, and use every tool available. If you're planning your farming route or checking the market through poe 2 trade while refining your Atlas, Doryani is one of the NPCs that helps keep the whole loop running smoothly.
