You can spend hours racing before you notice the Friend entries sitting in the Discover Japan journal, and that's a shame because they're quick points. While you're chasing new cars, testing routes, or building up FH6 Credits through events, meeting the right people gives your progress a neat little shove. Each new introduction adds 10 Discover Japan Points, and with 19 Friends to find, that's 190 points before you even count the bigger story rewards tied to them.
Start With The Campaign Crew
The easiest Friends are the ones the game basically hands to you. Push through the opening campaign and you'll meet Mei Hasegawa, Jordan Chambers, Yuji Kono, Keiko Tamaguchi, Helena Marston, and ANNA without needing to do anything strange. No hidden stunt, no special car, no weird menu option. Just keep playing until the early festival chapters open up. These characters are worth grabbing first because they fill the journal fast and help move you closer to the next Wristband without making the game feel like a checklist.
Don't Ignore The Radio
Radio hosts are the Friends a lot of players miss, mostly because they don't feel like collectibles. They unlock by listening to their stations while driving, so it's smart to swap stations now and then instead of leaving one on forever. Bass Arena brings in Scott Tyler, Block Party introduces Carla Rose, Gacha City Radio has Toko Ito, Hospital includes Chriss Goss and Dynamite MC, Opus adds Takehiro Sato, Pulse gives you Amy Simpson, Sub Pop features Abbie Gobeli and Atticus George-Andrijeski, Wave introduces Isabel Moss, and XS brings in Simon Neil. You don't need to sit parked. Just drive, race, cruise, and let the introductions happen naturally.
Storylines That Add More Than Names
Drift Club Japan is a good early stop, even if drifting isn't usually your thing. The game provides the cars, so you're not stuck tuning a build before you can start. As you work through the chapters, Isamu Hamada, Midori Nakamoto, and Robert Glenn are added to your Friend collection. Moto Auto Zine is even quicker at the start, since finishing its first chapter introduces Larry Chen. These aren't just journal stamps either. Drift Club Japan and Moto Auto Zine can each award up to 1,800 Discover Japan Points, so they're well worth doing while the map is still opening up.
A Smart Route For Quick Progress
A clean way to handle the Friend hunt is to stack things together. Do the early campaign first, then change radio stations while travelling between events. After that, jump into Drift Club Japan and Moto Auto Zine. If you've got time, follow up with Day Trips and Yuji's Auto, since Day Trips can give up to 2,700 Discover Japan Points and Yuji's Auto can add up to 1,800 more. It feels less like grinding when every drive is doing two jobs at once: adding points and moving you toward fresh content.
Final Thoughts
Collecting every Friend isn't hard, but it's easy to leave a few behind if you never touch certain activities. Treat the journal like a loose roadmap rather than homework, and you'll clear most of it while playing normally. Players who want to speed up garage growth may also look at ways to buy Forza Horizon 6 Credits alongside their in-game progress, but the Friend system itself is still one of the simplest early wins in Discover Japan.
